YouTube in Legal Wrangle over Simpsons Episodes
Google's big prize for buying YouTube? You got it, Litigation. Check out the article posted here
YouTube in legal wrangle over Simpsons episodes
From the article,
20th Century Fox has served YouTube with a subpoena demanding the Google-owned viral video site disclose the identity of a user who uploaded copies of entire recent episodes of primetime series 24 and The Simpsons.
You have to wonder how this will all shake out. Much of the content on YouTube is pirated. YouTube and video sharing is still in its infancy, somewhat like MP3 sharing was prior to the Napster fallout. Will YouTube owned by Google face a similar fallout. It seems that, Google at some point will have to put some type of controls on what is uploaded to You Tube, but how can they?
Currently YouTube is serving over 100 million videos per day, with 65000 or so new videos uploaded daily. How can Google check 65000 newly uploaded videos each day? While Google may be a Juggernaut, they are going to face Juggernauts the likes of 20th Century Fox and other huge media outlets.
